Lady Gaga is getting nearly nude and going topless… and it’s all to celebrate Naomi Campbell’s birthday.

Gaga posted a pretty bizarre photo online to celebrate Naomi’s 47th birthday this week, opting to forgo the usual sweet snap of herself and the birthday girl and instead decided to celebrate the supermodel’s big day by uploading a nearly naked photo of herself.

Lady Gaga posted a topless photo of herself to the social media site with her back to the camera while she was doing a little naked cooking in the kitchen.

“#HappyBirthdayNaomi @iamnaomicampbell” Gaga captioned the image uploaded on May 22, which showed off the musician’s various tattoos as she appeared to grind some pepper while topless and preparing food in her kitchen.

Gaga didn’t reveal exactly what inspired her somewhat bizarre decision to celebrate Naomi’s birthday by getting nearly naked in the kitchen and didn’t reveal if she was cooking for the model, though the superstar’s fans certainly let the singer know their reactions to her topless celebration in the image’s comments.

“I’m confused, what does this have to do with Naomi and her birthday?” Instagram user @msfears asked Gaga in the comments. @M.bozman questioned, “What’s this got to do [with] her bday?”

“What kind of birthday shoutout is this?” @anitaskyy asked. “Nice kitchen though…”

The confusion over the image also spread to Twitter, where fans continued to speculate on exactly what inspired Lady Gaga to go nearly nude and share the topless image of herself in order to wish Campbell a happy birthday.

“Gaga wishing Naomi Campbell a happy birthday by posting a picture of herself cooking topless,” @gagsheaux wrote. “Y’all what’s the correlation I’m screaming.”

“Only Gaga would wish Naomi a happy birthday with a picture of herself,” @donafella added of the somewhat strange choice.

But while some fans were left pretty puzzled by Lady Gaga’s decision to get nearly nude to celebrate Naomi’s birthday, others praised the “The Cure” singer for not being afraid to show off her body and embracing being free with the topless picture.

“Cooking without a top… brave. Respect,” @khegi_megi wrote in the comments, while @crustyblack69 wrote of the star’s nearly nude display, “YAAASSSS wurk it girl.”

Gaga hasn’t offered up an explanation for getting nearly naked in her topless Instagram photo, though this certainly isn’t the first time the star has embraced going nude.

As reported by Express back in 2013, Gaga went completely nude during a concert in London, stripping down and getting completely naked for the stunned audience at the club G-A-Y.

The site claimed that Lady Gaga performed in one of her signature fashion-forward dresses but then opted to step out of her gown at the end of the show and walked off the stage completely naked, showing off everything to the crowd.

Gaga then got totally naked again for another very revealing art project, stripping down for a nude photoshoot with her former fiancé Taylor Kinney for a photo shoot for V magazine last year.

Both Lady Gaga and Taylor went totally naked for the shoot and were only covered by a few splashes of paint which the singer put down on a canvas as they made love, according to Huffington Post.

“We made love on this canvas on a Sunday in Chicago. We made love amidst chaos. We talked about shootings. We made love amidst terrorism,” Gaga said of the naked shoot. “We talked about how people’s hearts are also suffering all over the world as they watch and witness a swell of violence. We made love amidst violence.”

What do you think of Lady Gaga’s topless photo in celebration of Naomi Campbell’s birthday? Was it a little weird or typical Gaga?
