English Soccer Player Is Photographed Wiping His Bottom With £20 Notes

A picture of the English Premier League footballer, Liam Ridgewell, wiping his bottom with a number of £20 notes has emerged online.

The West Bromwich Albion defender, who earns around £20,000 a week, was photographed sitting over a toilet in the bathroom of his house in Birmingham. It has provoked a furious reaction from football fans across England.

The image seems to show around £1,000 scattered around Ridgewell’s feet, but he has since looked to quell the disdain being directed towards him be stating it was a ‘joke’ that was was intended to wind up a friend.

This photo was sent to The Sun newspaper by a belligerent fan who stated, “The people of West Bromwich earn a fraction of what this idiot earns yet he makes a mockery of his good fortune like this. It makes me sick. We’ve always thought footballers were arrogant, overpaid buffoons and this just proves it.”

Today, Ridgewell released his own statement, said, “The photo was taken in the privacy of my home around eight months ago as a joke to wind up a mate, who I had just won a personal bet with. I only intended him to see the photo but it’s public, I can understand how it will be viewed. I am sorry for any offense it causes.”

Ridgewell also faced the wrath of his teammates at training today as they covered his locker in toilet paper and a solitary £20 note.

Do you think sports stars are paid too much? Or do they just waste their money?
