Tom Hanks Goes Off On New York City Driver And Gushes Over Emma Watson

Much like the characters he plays on film, Tom Hanks isn’t one to hold his tongue for long, which is something a New York City driver recently learned. When Hanks came across an illegally parked car in the Upper East Side of New York City, the actor didn’t hesitate to take action and demand that the city’s police do the same. Mr. Hanks may not have been the first to notice the car, but his celebrity status helped to ensure the problem was taken care of once and for all.

Tom Hanks Shames Upper East Side Car Owner

Mr. Hanks was in New York’s Upper East Side when he came upon the offending car parked illegally on a public street, and as New York Daily News shares, the award-winning actor was immediately offended by the eyesore. The burgundy car wasn’t just illegally parked, but had already been cited by police several times for the violation. Six tickets littered the front window on the driver’s side, where police had slipped the citations beneath the windshield wiper.

Hanks wasn’t going to let this violation slide any longer. Proving he has far less patience than the New York City police department, Hanks photographed the car with a focus on the smattering of tickets strewn across the windshield wiper.

“Sir? Move. Your. Car! Hanx,” Tom captioned the image, as he posted it to his Twitter account.

As luck would have it, NYPD Assistant Commissioner for Communication and Public Information Peter Donald happened to see Hanks’ tweet and didn’t hesitate to respond. Donald asked Tom where the car was located and thanked him for performing his civic duty.

Police from the 19th Precinct have since responded, running the license plates of the car, which Hanks revealed was parked at E. 79th St. and Park Ave. It was discovered that the vehicle’s owner pays the tickets online. Police surmise that the owner leaves the tickets on his car in the hopes of avoiding additional citations.

Regardless, the car has been moved.

In The Circle, Tom Hanks employs Emma Watson in his most ambitious tech project yet, and as Hindustan Times reports, Hanks was mightily impressed by his co-star. Singing Watson’s praises, Tom says he has great admiration for the way Emma carries herself on and off camera, adding that her acting style is unparalleled.

“Emma is phenomenally untouched and grounded in ways and she’s also crazy, facile when it comes down to the architecture of making movies,” said Mr. Hanks.

Going further in his praise of Watson, Tom says the Harry Potter films have given Emma an appreciation for the complexities of filmmaking, adding that her understanding of the technical aspects of filmmaking has made her a truly remarkable performer.

The Circle star adds that an actor’s greatest gift is to be able to lose oneself in the moment as his or her character. In that respect, Tom feels that Emma Watson is a “profound” actress.

As it turns out, the admiration Tom Hanks holds for Watson was reciprocated. Previously, Emma expressed the feeling that working with Hanks on The Circle was a dream come true for her, as she has always been a big fan of Tom’s work.

“Getting to act with Tom Hanks in any scene is bit of a dream,” said Emma Watson. “He’s so generous and funny and easy-going and he’s all the things you would want him to be.”

The Circle, starring Emma Watson, Tom Hanks, and John Boyega, is currently showing in theaters.

Tom Hanks returns as Woody in Toy Story 4, which is currently filming.
