‘Fear The Walking Dead’: New Season 3 Promo Could Reveal Someone Who Is Supposed To Be Dead Already

Season 3 of Fear the Walking Dead will be premiering on June 4. In anticipation of this, AMC has just released a new trailer. However, as some fans have pointed out, not only does it appear to show a spoiler for a character who is currently alive in the series, but it could also show a character that is considered already dead.

SPOILER ALERT: This article discusses Season 3 of AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead. Please proceed with caution if you wish to avoid spoilers.

The new Season 3 trailer for Fear the Walking Dead is short at only 30 seconds. AMC has packed a lot into it, though. Not only do fans get a feel for the overall story arc of Season 3, but new characters are quickly introduced. However, there are a couple of frames of the trailer that has fans speculating over upcoming events in Season 3 of Fear.

Before we delve into those theories, you can view the new trailer for Season 3 of Fear the Walking Dead below.

Firstly, AMC has chosen to show, once again, a scene where a group of the infected are released from a holding pen. The very first of the infected bears a striking resemblance to Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis). The previous trailer for Season 3 of Fear also showed this image and it had fans speculating about the fate of Travis. This theory escalated further when it was confirmed that Cliff Curtis would be joining the line-up for the Avatar sequels.

It is certainly possible that Travis could become one of the infected in Season 3 of Fear the Walking Dead, because, let’s face it, it’s the zombie apocalypse and any one of the main characters could die at any given moment. However, considering AMC has chosen to show this image twice in their recent trailers, it could indicate it is a decoy ploy by the network so fans think Travis is going to become infected in Season 3.

The second potential spoiler moment comes at the very end of the Season 3 trailer. As one eagle-eyed fan pointed out on Twitter, it is possible Victor Strand (Colman Domingo) could have been talking to Daniel Salazar (Ruben Blades).

The person Strand is talking to is never revealed, only seen as a blurred image at the very front of the short scene. However, that image, caught in the still above, could be compared to the profile of Daniel.

But, if it is Daniel, how is that even possible? After all, it is assumed Daniel died in a fire back in Episode 7 of Season 2 of Fear the Walking Dead. AMC chose to not show Daniel perish, leading to speculation the character was still alive. This was further fueled when the show’s executive producer and showrunner, Dave Erickson, revealed to Comic Book that Daniel was alive.

“In my mind, he is not dead. What’s important is that Ofelia thinks he’s dead because that led to her run… my hope is we will figure out a way for Daniel Salazar to return, maybe in season three… He is not dead.”

So, if this is the case, did fans just get their first peek into the role Daniel will play moving forward into Season 3 of Fear the Walking Dead. Although, as Cassidy Frazee mentions further on Twitter, this image, while it could, indeed, be Daniel in person, could also indicate a failing mental state for Strand or even a misdirection by AMC to get viewers thinking he will make an appearance.

The reality is, though, is that fans will have to tune into Season 3 of Fear the Walking Dead to find out the truth.

The official synopsis for Season 3 of Fear the Walking Dead is below.

“As Fear the Walking Dead returns for season three, our families will be brought together in the vibrant and violent region formerly known as the U.S.-Mexico border. International lines done away with following the world’s end, our characters must attempt to rebuild not only society, but family as well. Madison has reconnected with Travis, her apocalyptic partner, but Alicia has been fractured by her murder of Andres. Madison’s son is only a few miles from his mother, but Nick’s first action as a leader saw him and Luciana ambushed by an American militia group – the couple escaped death, Luciana was shot, and Nick no longer feels immortal. Recovering both emotionally and physically, Strand has his sights set on harnessing the new world’s currency, and Ofelia’s captivity will test her ability to survive and see if she can muster the savagery of her father.”
