Shemar Moore Is Coming Back With A New Series

Shemar Moore will return to TV as Sergeant Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson on the new CBS drama series, S.W.A.T. The series is based on the television series from the 1970s, and the movie from 2003 with the same name.

Shemar Moore will star as Hondo, a Sergeant that runs a specialized tactical unit in Los Angeles. Shemar told Celebrity Insider that S.W.A.T. is a “thrill ride” with an interesting story and lots of cool action.

Moore says that the team on S.W.A.T. has “powerful chemistry” and that the show is unique. He is hesitant to call it the best show yet, but it is definitely fresh and unique.

In an interview with TV Guide, Shemar Moore said that viewers will love the cop drama because it “feels like real life.” How could this not thrill TV viewers? Moore promises lots of action with things being blown up and lives being saved.

The S.W.A.T. theme song has been updated too and Shemar thinks that fans will love it because it has more of what he called “stank.”

For those who don’t remember, the 2003 movie version of S.W.A.T. starred Samuel L. Jackson in the same role that Shemar Moore will be play, Sergeant Dan “Hondo” Harrelson. Colin Farrell, LL Cool J, and Michelle Rodriquez also co-starred in the movie version.

The original television series ran for two seasons in 1975 and 1976. It starred Robert Ulrich, Steve Forrest, and Rod Perry.

Other faces you might recognize in the television re-make of S.W.A.T. include Lina Esco, who you may have seen recently in Kingdom playing Ava. Jay Harrington, who played Dr. Leo Fields in the series Code Black, will play Deacon.

Shemar Moore has been sharing some exciting tidbits and pictures from the show on his Instagram account. On one Instagram post he said that Hondo is “a little bit of all aspects of my true life and pieces of all the characters I’ve played…he is the MAN that I’ve grown to relate to and respect.” He went on to say that Hondo is just a regular man, but he thinks “bigger than himself” and “he only wants what’s RIGHT.” That is what makes the character that Shemar Moore will play in S.W.A.T. a hero.

Shemar Moore was well loved as Derek Morgan on the hit show, Criminal Minds. Moore played Derek Morgan from 2005 to 2016, when his character retired after coming close to death, being tortured, and finding out that the love of his life had been shot and came close to death herself. Morgan quit the BAU to enjoy life with his fiancé and the unborn child that he was about to become father to.

Fans feared that they wouldn’t see Derek Morgan again, but Shemar Moore returned to Criminal Minds for the season finale on May 10, 2017. Shemar won’t say if that is the last that fans will see of Morgan, or if there’s a possibility that he will return. When TV Insider asked Shemar if he would be doing any additional appearances on Criminal Minds he told them, “The elevator doors close, but they can always open up again.”

So, whether or not Shemar Moore will be seen again on Criminal Minds is up in the air. However, fans of Shemar can look forward to seeing him on S.W.A.T. starting on November 2 on CBS.
