WWE Rumors: Shocking Update On All Titles For ‘Raw’ And ‘SmackDown’ And Who Will Lose Their Titles This Summer

The summer is always a big time for WWE as there are several pay-per-view (PPV) events taking place, and rumor has it that they will see a lot of title changes. This Sunday, the SmackDown Live-exclusive event called Backlash will take place, and three of the brand’s four titles will be on the line, but will any change hands? It will be interesting to see what happens in a couple of days, but rumor has it there will be a lot of belts moving around in the coming months.

WWE has no choice but to plan out things months in advance, and that is done to keep an idea of what they need to do at the present time. Still, those plans are never quite set in stone as injuries can occur or the creative team may simply change their mind and decide to do something else along the way.

With the unpredictability of what could happen at any moment in the world of professional wrestling, fans are always left guessing. Now, though, they may have an idea of what is to come this summer based off of rumors regarding numerous championships.

According to Billi Bhatti of Sportskeeda, almost every single championship on the Monday Night Raw brand is expected to change hands in the next couple of months.

Bhatti reports that every Raw championship, except for the WWE Universal Title held by Brock Lesnar, will change hands before SummerSlam. That gives the brand exactly three months to have four other titles won by other superstars before the PPV takes place on August 20.

If that ends up being true, then, these champions will lose their titles at some point over the next few months:

  • Hardy Boyz – Raw Tag Team Titles
  • Alexa Bliss – Raw Women’s Title
  • Dean Ambrose – Intercontinental Title.
  • Neville – Cruiserweight Title

As previously reported by Inquisitr, there are rumored plans in place for Brock Lesnar to hold onto the Universal Title for quite a long time. He may actually hold onto the belt until next year when he puts it on the line against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 34.

Pop Culture reports that Alexa Bliss won the title from Bayley as something to take up time until WWE pulls the trigger on a Bayley vs. Sasha Banks program. Then again, WWE is very happy with Bliss and the crowd reaction she has received, so, they may allow her to remain champion a while longer.

With the Raw brand having a number of title changes over the coming months, it doesn’t appear as if the same thing will happen with Team Blue.

According to Cageside Seats, there is a very good chance that no SmackDown Live titles will change hands this Sunday at Backlash.

First of all, Kevin Owens and AJ Styles are set to be in a program that lasts for quite a while, and they won’t end things with a title change this quickly. As for the other two title matches, both Jinder Mahal and Breezango have been doing well in their roles as the number one contenders, but it is too early to put the belts on them at this point.

Sportskeeda continued on to say that the ultimate plans have Charlotte Flair capturing the SmackDown Women’s Title and The Usos feuding with The New Day for the tag straps.

Full card for this Sunday’s Backlash pay-per-view:

  • WWE Championship: Randy Orton (c) vs. Jinder Mahal
  • United States Championship: Kevin Owens (c) vs. AJ Styles
  • SmackDown Live Tag Team Championship: The Usos (c) vs. Breezango
  • Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Dolph Ziggler
  • Charlotte Flair, Naomi, & Becky Lynch vs. The Welcoming Committee
  • Baron Corbin vs. Sami Zayn
  • Luke Harper vs. Erick Rowan
  • Kickoff Match: Tye Dillinger vs. Aiden English

If the rumors prove out and end up being true, the three champions defending their titles this weekend at Backlash will hold onto them. According to speculation, all champions on SmackDown Live may see their reigns last a bit longer, but things don’t look too good for those on Monday Night Raw. It appears as if every champion but Brock Lesnar could lose their titles before the end of the summer, but only time will tell.
