Meghan Markle And Prince Harry One Step Closer To Tying The Knot? Church Of England Approves Of Wedding

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are getting serious — very serious. Of course, that’s if you believe the rumors. There are numerous reports coming out of England claiming that Harry and Markle are on the road to getting married. And if they do decide to get married, it will be a proper royal wedding at Westminster Abbey, even though Meghan Markle is Jewish and a divorcee.

According to U.K. newspaper the Express, there are no official impediments to Prince Harry marrying Megan despite her marital history and religious background.

“The Abbey follows the General Synod Ruling of 2002. Since then it has been possible for divorced people to be married in the Church of England,” a spokesperson for the Church said to the Express.

Furthermore, people of the Jewish, Buddhist, or Muslim faith are not legally prevented from marrying into the royal family. Markle, who is biracial, is also Jewish on her father’s side and has previously described herself as a Jew in an interview. She was also married to Trevor Engelson, a TV and movie producer, from 2011 and 2013.

There used to be a legal barrier against English royals marrying Catholics, but those were removed in 2015. However, a Catholic who has married a royal cannot become a monarch because the King/Queen of England is the head of the Church of England and therefore must be a Protestant.

Although a Prince Harry-Meghan Markle wedding is technically approved by the Church of England, Harry would still need to get the Queen’s approval before he and the Suits actress can walk down the aisle to royal wedding bells.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are currently in England attending Pippa Middleton’s wedding. According to the Daily Mail, she arrived in London on Tuesday. After touching down in Heathrow airport and was immediately whisked to Kensington Palace. She was spotted leaving a spa in Soho after getting her nails done in preparation for the big event. Markle’s invitation to Pippa’s wedding is said to be a very telling sign that the prince and Meghan are serious about this relationship and that we could be hearing news of an upcoming royal wedding sooner than later.

There are rumors that the wedding date has already been set. A recent article by In Touch reported that the wedding is scheduled, but Gossip Cop, a site well known for fact-checking celebrity rumors, was quick to debunk that one. As Gossip Cop reports, In Touch published an article claiming they’re going to get married next spring and that Prince Harry proposed to her in Jamaica in April.

“Harry wants his and Meghan’s wedding reception to be more fun than formal,” the alleged insider told In Touch, as reported by Gossip Cop.

But Gossip Cop checked with their own source who said that was not the case.

For context, In Touch has also previously reported that Prince Harry was in a love triangle with Megan Markle and Rihanna. The also published an article stating that Prince Harry’s family hated Megan Markle, which seems ridiculous now that we know that Markle was invited to Pippa Middleton’s wedding.
