Joe Kennedy III Tied The Knot


Corona del Mar, CA – Joe Kennedy III, 32, walked his bride down the aisle over the weekend. When the Congressman-elect leaves for his new job in Washington, D.C., his new wife, Lauren Anne Birchfield, will be in tow. The 28-year-old bride’s father, Reverend Jim Birchfield, officiated the Kennedy wedding ceremony.

Joe Kennedy and Lauren Birchfield met at Harvard Law School and have been engaged for approximatly one year, according to the Boston Herald. The Kennedy nuptials occurred at Reverend Birchfield’s Community Church with family and friends in attendance.

Kennedy spokeswoman Emily Browne had this to say about the congressman-elect’s wedding:

“The bride and groom are extremely grateful for all the well wishes and for the outpouring of support and friendship they have received this year.”

After the swearing in ceremony on January 21, Kennedy will be representing the Fourth District. Joe is the son of former congressman Joseph P. Kennedy II and Sheila Rauch Kennedy. Last summer, Joe Kennedy III’s twin brother Matt married Kate Manning at the family’s Hyannisport compound.

The Democratic congressman-elect is the grandson of Robert F. Kennedy. He won 61 percent of the vote to earn the right to represent the citizens of his Massachusett’s Fourth District in the November election. The proud new husband is taking over the seat of retiring Democrat Barney Frank, MSN notes. A Kennedy had held elected office for 63 straight years before Patrick retired in 2010.

Joe Kennedy III was once a member of the Peace Corps and is a former prosecutor, according to the lawmaker’s website.
