Selena Gomez: The Weeknd Romance Causing Singer’s New Meltdown Over Hectic Work Schedule?

Selena Gomez has only been dating The Weeknd for six months, but reports claim that the singer’s relationship with the 27-year-old could potentially be poisonous for her.

According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, despite having claimed that she would take a much-needed break from the music industry upon returning to Los Angeles, after her stint at a rehab facility in Tennessee, Selena Gomez found herself in a relationship with The Weeknd and hasn’t slowed down since.

From magazine shoots to executive producing Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why, and reportedly gearing up to release her forthcoming album later this year, Selena Gomez has been juggling so many projects and insiders believe it’s all to do with The Weeknd.

Being around the “Starboy” hitmaker has tremendously helped Selena Gomez feel more confident in herself, it’s been claimed, but at the same time, she has looked at her boyfriend’s hectic work schedule and seems to be under the impression that she is in the right mindset to do the same.

From embarking on a world tour, participating in promotional runs for his latest album release, attending festivals, traveling from country to country for one-night events, and still maintaining a life of his own has without a doubt been stressful for The Weeknd.

Celeb Dirty Laundry seems to be under the impression that Selena Gomez is trying to follow in her boyfriend’s footsteps and work just as hard as him; he’s somewhat motivating her to get back to her music career and travel the world, but insiders wonder whether she’s even healthy enough to do so.

The reason why Selena Gomez had checked into rehab to begin with was because she had reportedly overworked herself with too many projects, the biggest one of them being her North American Revival Tour, which “absolutely drained her,” the singer revealed in a statement at the time.

Instead of taking a much-needed rest from Hollywood, Selena Gomez has already signed on for so many different projects that fans already fear another meltdown in the following months. Of course, now that The Weeknd is by her side, it’s a different story since he might be able to help her along the way, but it’s doubtful as he’s caught up in his work, a source notes.

It shouldn’t be forgotten, CDL adds, that The Weeknd has admitted in the past to struggling with substance abuse whenever he felt some kind of anxiety while on stage, NME reveals. In doing so, the 27-year-old admits that he was able to take on the pressure of being on stage for two hours and performing his songs — it’s unclear whether or not Selena Gomez’s boyfriend is still struggling with his own anxiety battle.

“Like Justin, The Weeknd is as bad an influence on her. The singer makes references about experimenting with drugs and sleeping around on his albums. That doesn’t sound like the ideal guy for a young woman who’s had mental health struggles,” the outlet writes.

“This wasn’t the first time that Selena Gomez was in rehab. She was rumored to have entered rehab two times before. That’s when Selena Gomez was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease. That was also around the same time the singer was rumored to be struggling with drugs and alcohol. Not a good idea for her to hang out with The Weeknd.”

In her interview with Vogue magazine just a few months back, Selena Gomez stressed that she was certainly planning to take things slow now that she’s out of rehab, adding that she also didn’t want to talk about her relationship with The Weeknd; she’d rather keep that private.

Her actions, however, have shown otherwise. Having already released new songs in recent weeks and sharing photos of herself and her beau on Instagram, it seems as if Selena Gomez is going against everything she had planned for herself.
