Sam Heughan And Mackenzie Mauzy May Be Getting Serious, As ‘Outlander’ Co-Star Caitriona Balfe Shows Support

Sam Heughan — and his love life — have been getting a lot of publicity since he started working on the hit Starz show, Outlander. So while some so-called fans of the show have been wishing that Heughan and his co-star Caitriona Balfe (who plays his on-screen wife, Claire Randall Fraser) would get together in real life, his recent outings with his real girlfriend, Mackenzie Mauzy, suggest that their wishes won’t ever come true.

According to Hall of Fame Magazine, Sam Heughan may be keeping the relationship low-profile, but recent actions by none other than Balfe herself suggest that he and Mauzy are getting closer by the minute.

Mauzy, an actress who made her name on The Bold and the Beautiful and as Rapunzel in Into The Woods (alongside Meryl Streep), is currently promoting an event in NYC to support the 100Cameras charity project.

The outlet reports that Balfe not only retweeted Mauzy’s latest promotion in support of the project on Twitter but actually followed the rising actress on the social media site.

This comes right after Balfe tweeted a belated happy birthday message to Sam Heughan, featuring a photo of himself and Mauzy looking very cozy and loving, further quashing the rumors that Balfe and Heughan were an item.

Furthermore, this isn’t the first time that Sam Heughan has been seen out and about with Mackenzie Mauzy.

According to The Daily Mail, he made his “red carpet official” debut with Mauzy at the Piaget pre-Oscars party, co-sponsored by the Weinstein Company.

Before that, they were seen together in Los Angeles at the United Voices Rally at the UTA headquarters.

“Sam Heughan celebrated his 37th birthday in South Africa on Sunday alongside his girlfriend MacKenzie Mauzy and his Outlander love interest Caitriona Balfe. The Irish 37-year-old – who plays his character Jamie Fraser’s ‘wifey’ Claire Beauchamp Randall/Fraser – tweeted the group kitchen snap on Monday wishing Sam ‘an amazing year!’ Contrary to on-set gossip, the 6ft3in Scottish heartthrob is dating the North Carolina-born 28-year-old, who shared two snaps of herself sightseeing at the Cape of Good Hope.”

For her part, Caitriona Balfe is happily spoken for by pub owner and music manager Tony McGill, whom she’s been dating since the end of the first season of Outlander.

In the past, Balfe vehemently denied rumors that she’d been dating Sam Heughan, insisting that she was “exhausted” of the conversation, and saying she was troubled by the fact that people insisted she was dating Heughan, even though she’d said it wasn’t true.

For his part, too, Sam Heughan also repeatedly denied that he and Balfe were an item. According to Radio Times, the so-called “romantic” sex scenes that he and Balfe share on-screen aren’t proof of their “true love.” In fact, he said, they’re the most embarrassing things to film.

“It is weird. I don’t think you could ever get used to those scenes,” he says. “They’re just so awkward. And they’re just so un-sexy. You’ve got a whole room of people and then you have to do it like a hundred times.”

Other celebrities have come out in support of Heughan and Mauzy as an item, especially since Mauzy has been the victim of incessant online bullying as a result of her relationship with the Outlander star.

So, while it may have been nice to see the “Jamie and Claire” relationship play out in real life, Sam Heughan seems to be very happy with Mackenzie Mauzy, and his co-star Caitriona Balfe seems to be happy for them both.
