Could Selena Gomez Return To The Stage After Canceling Her ‘Revival World Tour’?

Selena Gomez may be headed back to the stage after canceling her “Revival World Tour” midway through the series of events in August of last year.

Ahead of the arrival of her new song, “Bad Liar,” which will be released on May 18, a source claims Selena Gomez’s boyfriend of several months, The Weeknd, has reportedly inspired her to return to the stage.

“Having Abel in her life has given [Selena Gomez] new found strength and confidence. She credits her fresh, sexy romance with making her feel healthier and more alive than ever before,” a source told Hollywood Life on May 17.

Selena Gomez and The Weeknd went public with their relationship on January 10 after enjoying a private dinner date at Santa Monica’s Giorgio Baldi restaurant.

“Abel’s experience in the industry and his own success have put him in a unique position to give her great advice on her own career decisions,” the insider continued. “Abel has really made her feel more secure about getting back in the studio and back on stage performing. Also, thanks to being on tour with him and watching his ease doing shows, Selena feels like she might be ready to get back on the road again soon too!”

In August of last year, two months after fellow singer and friend Christina Grimmie was shot to death in Orlando, Florida, Selena Gomez confirmed struggles with anxiety, depression, and panic attacks, and she promptly entered a treatment center in Tennessee.

“As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways,” Selena Gomez said in a statement to People Magazine. “I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges.”

“I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off. Thank you to all my fans for your support. You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best. I know I am not alone by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues,” she continued.

Selena Gomez remained silent for several months after her statement was released, but she ultimately returned to the spotlight in November of 2016 during the American Music Awards. At the show, Gomez received the award for Best Female Artist: Pop/Rock and opened up about her need to withdraw from the public eye months prior.

Following the show, Selena Gomez returned to Instagram and thanked fans for their ongoing support of her journey.

After taking some time off, Selena Gomez and The Weeknd confirmed their romance, and in the months that followed, the couple continued to be spotted with one another around the world. As fans will recall, Gomez and The Weeknd turned up in Los Angeles several times before venturing to Europe where they enjoyed sight-seeing excursions in Florence and Venice, Italy.

Selena Gomez and The Weeknd were also seen together in Amsterdam, where he kicked off his “Starboy: Legend of the Fall Tour,” and in Paris, France, where his tour continued.

Selena Gomez and The Weeknd then took their romance to the red carpet at the Met Gala in New York City, which was also attended by The Weeknd’s former girlfriend, Bella Hadid.
