Philadelphia Phillies

Denver, CO (AHN) – Ryan Howard ripped a tying two-run double followed by Jason Werth’s go-ahead single, sending the Philadelphia Phillies to the NLCS with a come-from-behind 5-4 victory Monday over the Colorado Rockies. The Phils will play the LA Dodgers next.

After losing a one-run lead in the bottom of the eighth with the Rockies taking a 4-2 edge, the reigning World Series Champions came back with a three-run rally in the ninth against closer Hudson Street

Street took the loss and the blown save after converting 35 of 37 save opportunities in the regular season.

Cliff Lee, who was superb in Game One of the series, did not factor in the decision. The Phils left-hander was tagged with three runs on five hits with three walks and five strikeouts over 7 1-3 innings.

Ryan Madson (1-0), who took over for Lee, got the win. Brad Lidge lodged another save for the Phils, who will advance to their second consecutive NLCS.

Colorado starter Ubaldo Jimenez lasted seven innings, issued two walks and yielded two runs on six hits with seven strikeouts .
