Dwight Howard Hits Second Career Three Pointer [Video]

The Los Angeles Lakers couldn’t miss from three-point range against the Denver Nuggets last night. The Lakers set a franchise record by hitting 17 three point shots. The team was so hot that even center Dwight Howard hit one from behind the arc.

Howard is a pretty dominant player when he’s standing next to the basket but he isn’t really known for his shooting abilities. Well, he’s known for his terrible shooting abilities. Howard recently lost a free throw contest against the team’s mascot and is one of few NBA players to continuously toss up air balls from the free throw line.

He’s even worse from three point range. Granted, Howard doesn’t take too many three pointers but it’s still a little surprising that his make last night was only the second in his career. The last time Howard hit a three pointer was on January 5, 2007 when he was playing for the Orlando Magic.

According to USA Today, Howard is now 2 for 34 from three point range.

Teammate Antawn Jamison said:

“He shoots as many threes after practice as a lot of us, and he’s confident … You know Dwight. He’s going to take it.”

Here’s the video of Dwight Howard’s second career three pointer.

Howard had 28 points, 20 rebounds and three blocks last night to help the Lakers beat the Nuggets 122-103.
