Kansas Bondsman Found Guilty Of Killing 7-Year-Old Son, Feeding Dead Body To Hungry Pigs

The trial of a Kansas City man, who beat and starved his own child to death prior to feeding his son’s dead body to a horde of hungry pigs, has culminated in a guilty verdict for the now-convicted murderer.

Writers for the New York Daily News state that former bail bondsman Michael Jones, 46, was sentenced to life in prison on Monday, May 8, for the 2015 death of Adrian Jones, Michael’s 7-year-old son. The accused initially entered a guilty plea back in March for the crime, and as part of the deal, will not be eligible for parole until 2042, or 25 years.

“You do not deserve a second chance,” Adrian’s older sister, Keiona Doctor, relayed during her impact statement prior to Jones’ sentencing.

“You do not deserve [to see] sunlight as a free man.”

Jones purportedly declined to offer a statement of his own regarding the actions that led to his son’s passing, which occurred sometime between the months of September and October of 2015, according to the New York Post.

“[Adrian’s] remains were found that November on the family’s Kansas City rental property,” writers for the newspaper detail, “after officers learned the boy was missing while they were responding to a report that Michael Jones had attacked his wife at their home.”

Heather Jones, Michael’s wife and Adrian’s stepmother, additionally pleaded guilty last November for failing to defend her stepson from his father’s abuse, and was subsequently also given a life sentence with the possibility of parole in 25 years, as the Inquistr shared last year.

Heather professed during her trial that she did everything in her power to protect the young boy from his father, but Judy Conway, Adrian’s grandmother, was able to cast doubt on Jones’ testimony by revealing that she had seen her grandson’s stepmother participating in the abuse toward Adrian on video tape.

“The Joneses kept Adrian naked in a shower stall and modified it so that he couldn’t get out,” the Post further transcribes, “[occasionally] strapped her grandson to an inversion table, and [often] made him stand in a swimming pool overnight, up to his neck in stagnant water.”

As for Heather’s claims of “protecting” the boy, Ms. Conway remarked that she personally witnessed the stepmother adding to the abuse that her husband was already imparting on Adrian.

“Conway said the videos and photos [also] show that Heather Jones sometimes beat Adrian with the end of a broom handle, and kept alarms on the family’s food so that he couldn’t take any when he was hungry.”

Phyllis Gilmore, chief of the Kansas Department for Children and Families, confirmed during an interview with the Post that their agency received calls regarding Adrian’s home life in the past. However, their efforts to intervene and possibly save Adrian were “greatly disrupted” due to the family’s repeated travels to Missouri, where they owned a second home.

Adrian’s biological mother, Dainna Pierce, who lost custody of her son and another child two years ago for unknown reasons, also offered her owns strong impact statement to Jones before his sentencing.

“I pray you have a long, tortured life in prison,” she tearfully told the father of her child. “I don’t know if I can forgive you, but I know you should suffer for what you did.”

The boy’s grandmother, however, appeared to stand firm on never forgiving the man for making literal feed out of his son to satiate his pigs’ appetites.

“There is no glue for our broken hearts or remedy for our pain,” Ms. Conway said in closing, prior to adding, “there is no getting over [this].”
