Mallory Owens Says Girlfriend’s Brother ‘Threatened To Finish Me Off,’ Seeks Attempted Murder Charge

Mallory Owens, who was brutally beaten by her girlfriend’s teenage brother on Thanksgiving, said the boy “threatened to finish me off.”

Owens and her family are now seeking to raise Travis Hawkins Jr.’s charge from second-degree assault to attempted murder, especially since this isn’t the first time he beat her so badly that she had to be hospitalized.

Earlier this year, Hawkins beat Owens over the head with a metal pipe. However, she didn’t pursue charges in that incident.

In a statement, Owens said:

“I was unconscious when the beating ended. I do not know what stopped him. I do know he has threatened to kill me before, he has attacked me with a metal pipe before, and on Thanksgiving Day he launched an unprovoked attack on me that left me unconscious, hospitalized, suffering horrific head trauma, severe injuries and in need of surgery and additional treatment.”

Owens also said that since the attack, Hawkins has been following her family and “appearing at locations where they have gathered.” She said she believes as long as Hawkins is free on bond, her life will be in danger.

In her statement, Owens also said that she believed Hawkins intended to kill her and that she was defenseless against him.

Owens also said, “I believe Mr. Hawkins Sr. is very manipulative, I believe he organized the family and orchestrated the media represenation to portray himself in a better light. I do not feel safe there.”

She said he threatened to harm her based on her relationship with his daughter, Ally Hawkins.

“It will be a very long time before I feel safe again … No one should have to endure an attack the way that I did,” Owens said. “Neither should a mother have to see her daughter in the state that my mom had to see me.”

The 23-year-old’s attack received a tremendous public outcry, and she has thanked all the people who have supported her and her family and donated to help her with her medical expenses.
