Mayim Bialik Files For Divorce, Wants Joint Custody Of Kids
Mayim Bialik has officially filed for divorce.
The Big Bang Theory actress filed for divorce from her husband Michael Stone on November 21, the same day that she announced the split, but the court papers were only made available today. Bialik cited “irreconcilable differences” in the divorce document and is seeking joint legal and physical custody of her two sons.
Fans of the actress have speculated that Bialik’s style of attachment parenting may have fueled problems in the relationship. The actress specifically stated in her announcement last week that her “hands-on approach” to parenting played no part in the divorce.
“The hands-on style of parenting we practice played no role in the changes that led to this decision. Relationships are complicated no matter what style of parenting you choose.”
Bialik, who is best known for her work on the 90s show Blossom, said that her main concern at the moment is the well-being of Miles, 7, and Frederick, 4.
“Divorce is terribly sad, painful and incomprehensible for children. It is not something we have decided lightly … The main priority for us now is to make the transition to two loving homes as smooth and painless as possible … Our sons deserve parents committed to their growth and health and that’s what we are focusing on.”
