Mary J. Blige Sued For Defaulting On $2.2 Million Loan

Singer Mary J. Blige has been sued for defaulting on a $2.2 million loan, according to Yahoo! News.

The Grammy winner and her husband were recently slapped with the lawsuit after being accused of defaulting on a loan they took out in October 11. In addition to the loan itself, Signature Bank is looking to collect nearly $58,000 in interest.

Stuff reports that the lawsuit against Mary J. Blige was filed in New York State Supreme Court on Wednesday. Mary Jane Productions, the singer’s production company, has also been named in the suit. Blige’s representatives have denied the allegations.

The singer has yet to comment on the lawsuit as of this writing. Blige’s lawyer’s have also been tight-lipped about the rumors that she defaulted on a $2.2 million loan.

According to the Christian Post, this isn’t the first set of financial problems the acclaimed singer has faced in recent months. The singer’s charity, The Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now Inc., found itself embroiled in controversy after being accused of mishandling funds.

“The lives of young women are at stake,” Blige said at the time. “I feel what they feel. I don’t want them to suffer. I promised them something and I’m gonna deliver. Period.”

To make matters worse, the singer was falsely accused by a certain gossip website of being “drunk” and “passed out” on drugs and alcohol while attending a recent Brooklyn Nets basketball game. As Opposing Views explains, the outrageous allegations where completely false.

“Mary had a long battle with alcohol and narcotics,” the offending website falsely reported. “Hopefully she ain’t BACK ON THAT STUFF again.”

The image in question featured Blige sitting with her eyes closed. In truth, she looks exactly like every other person I’ve seen using their smartphone at a sporting event.
