Girl Raped With A Live Snake, Attacker Sentenced To 20 Years

In what may be the most horrific story I have ever seen, a South African man has been sentenced to 20 years in jail for raping a 3-year-old girl with a live snake.  The defendant, Martin Jozana, was silent as the judge passed on his sentence and commented that even in a place like South Africa, where violent crime is rampant she had never seen anything like this before.

South African newspaper Volksblad reported that Regional Magistrate Jan Greyvenstein, who pronounced sentence on Jozana has presided over almost 2 000 sexual crimes cases but this was the first she had ever seen anything so horrible.

Greyvenstein said to Volksblad regarding the case:

“What goes on in a person’s head to do something like this is something I can’t understand. This kind of offence is something no sensible person could justify.”

Court transcripts indicated that Jozana had gone n October 31st, 2012 to the house of the Bloemfontein family and found the three year old victim where she had been left by her mother.  Jozana had tried to sell the snake to the residents of the house and was turned down.  He waited until the residents were out of sight and snatched the child, bringing her out of sight where he raped her with the snake.

Noticing that he couldn’t find his baby sister the victim’s brother went looking for her where he found her bloody and crying.  He brought her to her mother.  Her mother seeing the blood on the girl asked her what happened and when told she brought her daughter looking for the attacker.  Finding Jozana, the victim pointed him out to her mother as the attacker.

Now Jozana will spend twenty years in one of the world’s harshest prisons thinking about the awful thing he did to his victim.
