Santorum Open To 2016 Run

Rick Santorum could be running for president again in 2016.

The former Pennsylvania Senator, who was one of Mitt Romney’s main competitors during the Republican primaries, said that he was “open to the possibility” of running for president in 2016.

Santorum said that he is still a long way from making a decision but he wasn’t saying no to a 2016 run at the moment.

Santorum said:

“We’re a long way… I’m focused right now on trying to stay involved in the fray and make sure that we do the right thing up on Capitol Hill right now.”

CNN reports that Santorum launched the nonprofit group “Patriot Voices” shortly after ending his campaign for the Republican nomination. Santorum’s group advocates conservative issues and provides support for conservative candidates.

For the time being, that’s where Santorum’s focus will remain.

The former senator said that he wanted to make sure ”that we’re going to be very active and engaged and stick to America’s founding principles.”

Newt Gingrich, who also ran for the Republican nomination, said that he had “no idea at this stage” if he’d be running again in 2016. Herman Cain, Rick Perry and Michelle Bachman haven’t commented on a 2016 run yet.

There are rumors floating around, however, that Jeb Bush may throw his hat into the ring. Bush hasn’t said anything official but several sources said that Bush is preparing for a run at the White House.

Do you think Rick Santorum should run in 2016? Is it too early to talk about the next election?

  5. The only Republican that would even have a shot is Christie, at least he comes across as a straight shooter, at least as stright as a polition can be, so I guess that means he really doesn't have a chance…………NEVERMIND.

Seriously? No he is the LAST thing the Republican party needs, haven't they learned yet that extreme left is not the way to go? Good grief out of people all over this country they can't come up with people better than this? They need to get into the current century and quit running on old platforms that have already lost them elections! Come on man, I hope like heck that Gov. Christie runs, then maybe the Republican's will get it! Santorum couldn't beat any Democrat for President in today's world. Do yourself a favor before you waste your time and money (and our time) and DON'T run, leave it to someone that lives in this day and age and can win…….
