Kate Middleton Haggles For Bargain At Antiques Fair

Ludlow, UK – Kate Middleton may be part of one of the most moneyed families in the world, but that doesn’t stop the Duchess of Cambridge from haggling her way to a thrifty bargain.

At a recent antiques fair in Ludlow, an English market town not far from where Kate and husband William live, the duchess was in fierce bartering mood.

If visitors to Ludlow’s Continuity Fair were amazed to see Kate Middleton swelling their ranks, they’d have been even more gobsmacked by the sight of the duchess haggling with a stall holder for a pair of antique vases. The Daily Beast reports that the ruthless royal managed to get the price for the vases down from £180 ($288) to £160 ($256).

Nick Bayliss, the owner of Continuity Fairs, told the Antique Trade Gazette he chatted with Kate Middleton at the fair, and revealed that she can still blend into a crowd:

“We had sent out complimentary tickets to Prince William and the duchess for our May fair and again in October, and to my absolute delight in she comes with her party on the Sunday morning and had her hand stamped with the green dragon by my daughter, who didn’t recognise her.”

Apparently, Kate and William took their time going round the fair before finding Kate’s beloved Imari vases and indulging in a spot of haggling. Every penny counts, right?

The fair is located close to Anglesey, where RAF helicopter pilot William is stationed. The young couple have a home there. Sightings of Kate Middleton are reportedly common in the area, though this was her first trip to the fair.
