‘AHS Asylum’ Cameo Watch: Frances Conroy’s ‘Ultimate Angel’ [Photo & Video]

If you’re an American Horror Story fan, then you’ve been anxiously awaiting a couple of promised cameos from last season’s cast. On the list for an Asylum turn are Dylan McDermott (who played Dr. Ben Harmon last season) and Frances Conroy (who played the maid Moira O’Hara, or at least the older version).

Creator Ryan Murphy originally said that Conroy will play “the ultimate angel” in her Asylum cameo, and though that thought might have churned up some slightly more positive imagery, you have to remember that this is American Horror Story we’re talking about. The image of Conroy’s character is below, but it seems pretty apparent that by “ultimate angel” Murphy meant “Angel of Death.”

Like other returning actors including Evan Peters, Zachary Quinto, and Jessica Lange, Conroy plays an all-new character in Asylum, and though we’ll see her for the first time this week, very little is known about her at the moment. The TVLine profile calls her a “dark angel” and says that Lily Rabe’s Sister Mary Eunice is “petrified” of her.

Also on cameo-watch is the above-mentioned Dylan McDermott. Though McDermott played the main protagonist last time around, virtually nothing is known about his upcoming cameo in Asylum. Personally, I think we already saw him in last week’s “The Origins of Monstrosity.” There was a bit more on the modern-day story in that episode, including a couple of phone calls from the current incarnation of Blood Face, and boy did that voice sound awfully familiar …

American Horror Story: Asylum‘s “Dark Cousin” episode airs Wednesday, November 28 at 10pm ET on FX. Here’s the image of Frances Conroy’s “ultimate angel” followed by a promo clip for “Dark Cousin.”
