Naked Man Standoff In London Ends Peacefully

London, England – The naked man standoff which took place on Friday ended without anyone getting hurt, according to ABC News.

An unidentified gentleman who left his clothes at home decided to climb to the top of a large equestrian statue seated in the heart of city’s government district. Police were soon called to the scene of the crime to convince the man to come down.

The standoff with the naked man lasted around three hours before authorities were able to coax him back to the ground. Scotland Yard immediately took the man into custody.

FOX News reports that the standoff began after the nude individual climbed onto a bronze statute of the 19th century duke of Cambridge. At one point during the incident, the guy balanced himself on top of the duke’s head.

“We’re still talking to him. We’re still trying to get him down without causing any injury to him,” a Scotland Yard spokesperson said while the standoff was taking place.

The unidentified man, who is believed to be in his 30s or 40s, remained atop the massive statue for three long hours while police attempted to lure him back to the safety of the world below. Authorities are unsure how long the naked guy intended to stay on top of the duke despite the chill in the London air.

As a result of the standoff, London’s Whitehall government district was effectively shut down for a large portion of the morning. Things reportedly began returning to normal once police had convinced the man to climb down off the statue and turn himself in.

According to The Huffington Post, the man is currently being held by Scotland Yard under Britain’s Mental Health Act.
