Black Friday Bargain-Hunter Gets Flat Screen TV, Forgets Toddler At Store

Springfield, MA – Authorities say that a Black Friday bargain-hunter managed to snatch up a new flat screen TV, but at the expense of his girlfriend’s 2-year-old son, who was left at the store.

Holiday shopping, particularly on Black Friday, can be a pretty hectic ordeal, but a Massachusetts man’s obsession with getting a great deal on a new TV proved to be his undoing. Police said that the man left his girlfriend’s son in the car while he went shopping for Black Friday bargains, and went home with a new 51-inch flat screen TV. His girlfriend’s son was left behind, still in the car in the packed parking lot, reports NBC News.

Alerted by store security, police responded to the Kmart parking lot and found the young boy asleep in the car, right where the Black Friday shopper left him. They boy was still asleep when he was discovered around 1:30am Friday.

Police forced their way into the vehicle and took the boy to the hospital as a precaution. They then tracked the man down to his Springfield home.

The 34-year-old told police that he lost the boy while shopping, and panicked. He then called someone else for a ride home. The boy’s mother was working at the time. Police did not arrest or charge the man, but they say that they expect to charge him with reckless endangerment to a child.

How the man was so distracted by Black Friday deals that he forgot where he left the child (and even that he drove himself to the store in the first place) is currently unknown.
