Kuchar Wins In Sudden-Death Playoff At Turning Stone

Verona, NY (AHN) – After missing two earlier chances to win the extra session, Matt Kuchar parred the sixth hole in the marathon sudden-death playoff to capture the Turning Stone Resort Championship Monday.
It was just the second PGA tour title for the former Georgia Tech star, who snagged the 2002 Honda Classic in his first full season on tour.
After Vaughn Taylor found water at the par-4 13th and failed to convert on a six-foot bogey putt, Kuchar ended more than a seven-year title drought.
Kuchar made an 18-inch putt for par on the sixth hole to take home the $1.08 million top prize. It also enabled Kuchar to move to 25th spot in the money list.
Tied for the lead after 72 holes Sunday, the pair battled evenly in the two extra holes played before play was called off due to darkness at the Atunyote Golf Club.
On Sunday, Taylor carded a 66 and Kuchar had a 69 to finish tied at 17-under 271.
Finishing one stroke behind at third place were Tim Petrovic (67) and Leif Olson (69).
