‘Snitch’ Trailer Pits The Rock Against … Susan Sarandon? [Video]

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s latest film Snitch pits him against the greatest adversary he’s faced yet in his lucrative film career: Actress Susan Sarandon.

Based on a Frontline documentary of the same name, Snitch stars The Rock as a father who gets involved with the DEA as a drug informant in order to reduce and/or forgive devastating drug charges leveled against his imprisoned son (who swears he’s innocent).

Sarandon, though not strictly The Rock’s nemesis, plays a high-powered US Attorney who makes the informant deal with Johnson’s character. Though in terms of where she’s at on the spectrum of the law, Sarandon is technically a “good guy,” you can tell from the trailer that she wields immense influence on the plot and will be there to push The Rock back into the informant game when things get a little too real and he suffers cold feet.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sarandon’s role was intended for a man.

Though the film is inspired by true events, it will definitely take a detour into good old fashioned “The Rock kills everyone with machine guns” evidenced by the line “There is no way I’m going to let either side dictate our fates … no way,” spoken by The Rock as he stares at a rack of guns at his local Farm Fleet.

Still, give the trailer a look. Snitch‘s director, Ric Roman Waugh, may have set out to make a straight action-thriller, but he’s padding it with some very talented actors like Sarandon, Benjamin Bratt, Michael K. Williams, and Jon Bernthal (of recent Walking Dead fame). Let us know what you think in the comments.
