Florida Woman Claims God Told Her To Drive 100MPH

Fort Pierce, FL – Melissa Miller just can’t drive 55 and told police officers God said that it was all right. Milller was arrested for driving 100 MPH in a 30 MPH zone on Tuesday. Police officers hear a lot of unusual excuses for breaking the speed limit, but the Florida woman’s reasoning was likely a first for the Fort Pierce cops.

After the officers caught up with Miller and pulled her over, she had this to say when asked about why she had such a lead foot:

“Because I was letting the Lord’s spirit guide me. The Lord was telling me to do it.”

The traffic incident began after an officer witnessed a silver Toyota heading south on US 1 with its horn blowing and an arm swinging out the window. When the police officer tried to stop the car, the driver increased speed and almost hit a curb when swerving across two southbound lanes.

Although praying is always a good idea, the Fort Pierce police officers did not need to ask for advice from the Almighty when figuring out what to do with Melissa Miller. They booked the woman on charges of reckless driving and speeding, according to TCPalm.com. She was taken to the St. Lucie County Jail and held on a $375 bond, WFTS-TV notes.

Miller’s day got even worse when officers found out that she had violated her probation for leaving the scene of an accident with injuries. Miller apologized when the Florida law enforcement officers told her how fast she was driving down the freeway.
