U.S. Unemployment Hits 26-Year High

American unemployment has hit a 26-year high as the U.S. economy continued to shed jobs in September. Last month marked the 21st consecutive month of American job losses.

Americans should be ready for sticker shock as the unemployment rate hit 9.8 percent in September, climbing to dreaded double digits.

According to U.S. Labor Department statistics released on Friday, 263,000 Americans lost their job in September – extending the losing streak to 7.2 million jobs in almost two years.
