Pearl Jam Scores First #1 Album On Billboard In 13 Years

Miami, FL (CNS) – 13 is a lucky number for Pearl Jam. For the first time in 13 years, Pearl Jam has the #1 album in the country. Selling 189,000 copies of their ninth studio album, “Backspacing,” it’s also their fourth album to score the #1 spot. The group’s last album, the self-titled “Pearl Jam,” debuted at #2 but with a heftier 279,000 copies sold.
On the strength of singles “Run This Town” and “Empire State of Mind” and the simple fact that he’s Jay-Z, “The Blueprint 3″ moves another 134,000 copies and slipping to #2 after two weeks at the top. Rockers Three Days Grace debut at #3 with their latest, “Life Starts Now.” It’s also their second tip five debut on the chart.
Whitney Houston is at #4 this week with her comeback album, “I Look To You,” which moves 66,000 copies this week. Miley Cyrus is at #5 this week with her Wal-Mart exclusive EP, “The Time of Our Lives,” featuring her hit “Party in the U.S.A.”
Brand New earn their first top 10 album with “Daisy,” selling 46,000 copies to debut at #6 in its first week. Also following with their first top 10 are Five Finger Death Punch, who enter the chart at #7 with 44,000 copies sold of their new “War is the Answer” album.
Harry Connick Jr. debuts at #8 this week with his latest collection of standards and covers, “Your Songs,” moving 37,000 in its first week. Drake slips to #9 in his second week with his EP “So Far Gone,” selling 36,000 copies. Muse drops to #10 from #3 last week with their latest studio album, “The Resistance,” featuring the single “Uprising.
