President Trump To Release New Immigration Executive Order Monday Morning

President Donald Trump is allegedly preparing for a Monday morning blitz tomorrow this will include the signing of a new immigration executive order. The reports indicate that the order has been finalized and that Attorney General Jeff Sessions has been consulted on the matter. Though Trump’s first immigration order which temporarily banned the entry of individuals from seven “terror-prone” countries was met with harsh backlash and was subsequently struck down by a federal court, the new immigration order has reportedly taken into consideration the court’s concerns. So what can we expect with the new Trump immigration order?

Breitbart reports that President Donald Trump will be signing a new immigration executive order on Monday morning. The publication, which has close ties to the Trump administration, notes that the executive order will be a follow-up to the first immigration order that is currently held up in federal appeals court. Trump’s first immigration order was greeted with criticism as many decried the order as a “Muslim ban.”

The first order designated seven “Muslim-majority” countries as high terror risk and temporarily suspended entry into the United States by individuals from those seven countries. The countries included: Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen. While many protesters called the ban unjust citing it as religiously motivated, many on Trump’s team pointed out that it was not a Muslim ban as numerous Muslim-majority countries were not affected by the executive order.

In fact, Trump’s chief of staff, Reince Priebus claims that the list of seven countries was created by the Obama Administration, not Trump.

“[The countries included in the order were] identified by the Obama administration as the seven most dangerous countries in the world in regard to harboring terrorists and affirmed by Congress multiple times.”

Despite the administration’s efforts, the New York Times reports that the executive order was ultimately shot down by the Ninth Circuit federal court who ruled that the block of the travel ban could continue. With the case now in appeals, it seems Trump is not wanting to wait to have his day in court to discuss the ruling and is instead pushing forward with a new executive order that Press Secretary Sean Spicer says has been “finalized.”

“We’ve taken the Court’s opinions and concerns into consideration, but the order is finalized. It’s now awaiting implementation. What we want to do is make sure that we’re working through the departments and agencies so that any concerns or questions are handled on the front end. But we are acting with appropriate haste and diligence to make sure that the order is done in an appropriate manner.”

The Trump Administration has reportedly consulted Attorney General Jeff Sessions on the new order and believes that all Ninth Circuit issues have been resolved with the new order. Additionally, Spicer says that all appropriate departments and agencies have been notified of the order and will be working together to ensure the order is rolled out in a manner that is “flawless.”

Though Spicer says the Ninth Circuit’s concerns regarding the first immigration order were taken into consideration, details on the new order have been sparse. One noted difference with the second immigration executive order is the placement of Iran. According to the Breitbart report, Iraq has been moved to a different “category” though it is not entirely clear what that category will be.

Despite the new executive order allegedly being signed on Monday, Spicer and the Trump Administration have claimed that they still believe the first order was legal and that they still plan to address those issues in appeals court.
