Google Maps For iOS 6 Is Almost Complete

Google Maps for iOS 6

iPhone iOS 6 users who are sick and tired of the mediocrity known as Apple Maps will soon be able able to once again use Google Maps on their devices. A source close to the mobile maps Google production team says officials are just putting the finishing touches on the mapping software.

Once complete, Google will submit the application to the Apple iTunes store for approval.

Apple is not commenting on the app, claiming that the company does not speak about apps that have not yet been submitted for approval.

According to a Google spokesman:

“We believe Google Maps are the most comprehensive, accurate, and easy-to-use maps in the world. Our goal is to make Google Maps available to everyone who wants to use it, regardless of device, browser, or operating system.”

Apple iOS 6 Maps have been met with so many problems that Apple itself began recommending other options for users. Apple ditched Google even though Google still had a year left on its contract. According to Apple, it was angered over Google Maps lack of turn-by-turn directions.

While Google may have been missing one Apple requested feature, the company’s mapping software offers dozens of other features that users have come to rely on, features that are also sorely missing on Apple iOS 6 Maps.

With Apple CEO Tim Cook personally apologizing for the state of iOS 6 Maps and Apple hiring former Google Map workers to help fix its program, now would be the perfect time for Google to swoop in and win over iOS 6 users before Apple has time to react with a better product of its own.
