Courtney Stodden’s Gay Bar Debut Gig Axed: Well, That Was Quick

Courtney Stodden, child bride and unrepentant fameball, landed a debut singing gig at a West Hollywood gay bar, as we reported earlier.

Courtney Stodden is one half of the Courtney Stodden/Doug Hutchison creepfest, an uncomfortably visible May/December relationship that, try as we might, keeps popping into our field of vision through the pair’s seemingly relentless drive for working the discomfort of pop-culture to their eternal advantage.

And, while it seems like the couple have been polluting our gossip columns for eons, they’ve only been married for a year and change — a union that began when Stodden was just 16 to Hutchison’s 51.

Courtney Stodden had been set to make her debut appearance singing at the landmark West Hollywood gay bar The Abbey, and the aspiring singer said of her upcoming gig:

“I’m super excited, it’s going to be such a fun night. You can expect to see a whole lot of sexy — me singing live and super-hot backup dancers!”

Alas, as soon as it was announced, seemingly, the promise of more Stodden-related goodness was snatched from our grasp. Courtney’s planned gig has been canceled, and E! reports that the reason why depends on who you ask.

According to The Abbey, it was Courtney Stodden’s handlers that nixed the gig, deciding ultimately that the venue was too hot to handle:

“Her management approached the Abbey but ultimately she just wasn’t a fit.”

Not so, says Stodden’s mom. Krista Keller tells the site:

“It was too much for the Abbey to handle, too much press and controversy … Courtney’s not disappointed. She rolls with the punches.”

Another rep for Courtney blames the bar’s parent company and says:

“Courtney Stodden has a huge gay fan base and truly loves and adores everyone in the community … At this time, Courtney is heartbroken and we are currently seeking alternate opportunities for Courtney to make her debut club performance in West Hollywood.”

No word on Courtney Stodden’s next move to launch her music career as of yet, but we’ll likely hear from her very soon.
