Stephenie Meyer’s ‘The Host’ Gets A Trailer [Video]

Stephenie Meyer’s other book, The Host, is also being adapted to screen, and the flick just got itself a trailer.

The film is based on Meyer’s 2008 sci-fi novel of the same name, which she wrote around the time she was editing the third novel in the Twilight series, Eclipse. A futuristic and dystopic novel, The Host is one part Invasion of the Body Snatchers and another, well, your classic love triangle.

But don’t be so quick to abandon The Host, as the trailer makes it seem kind of interesting. Further, I bet many of you anti-Twihards out there who watched the trailer without any knowledge of the book were probably interested before Stephenie Meyer’s name popped up. Maybe she can redeem herself in your eyes for Twilight.

In any case, here’s the official synopsis for The Host, including casting information:

“From Stephenie Meyer (author of The Twilight Saga) comes The Host, a love story set in the future, where Earth is occupied by a species who erase the minds of their human hosts, leaving their bodies intact. Melanie Stryder (Saoirse Ronan) is one of the last surviving humans who fights back, risking her life for the people she cares about most – Jared (Max Irons), Ian (Jake Abel), her brother Jamie (Chandler Canterbury) and her Uncle Jeb (William Hurt) – proving that love can conquer all.”

Directed by Andrew Niccol, The Host will release March 29, 2013. Here’s the trailer, as promised:
