Jill Kelley Hires Monica Lewinsky’s Crisis Manager And John Edwards’ Attorney
Jill Kelley, the woman who received threatening emails from ex-CIA director David Petraeus’s mistress Paula Broadwell, has hired Monica Lewinksky’s crisis manager and John Edwards’ attorney.
Kelley and her husband, Scott, currently have at least four lawsuits against them as well as two foreclosures in Hillsborough County in Florida. Altogether, the couple owes millions of dollars, according to court records first reported by Gossip Extra.
Kelley has hired Lewinsky’s crisis manager (and the inspiration for Scandal‘s Olivia Pope), Judy Smith. Smith has also represented Michael Vick and Kobe Bryant. Kelley has also hired Edwards’ attorney, Abbe Lowell, to represent her.
Regions Bank is trying to foreclose on the Kelleys’ 5,000 square foot Bayshore Boulevard home. Records show the Georgian brick mansion was bought for $1.5 million in 2004. The bank claims the couple has defaulted on a $271,000 credit line and have put their house up as collateral. The five bedroom home is currently worth $840,000.
Central Bank is trying to foreclose on a three-story office building at 300 E. Madison Street in downtown Tampa. The Kelleys owe the bank $2.2 million for that property including attorney fees.
In the decade since the Kelleys have been in Tampa, one or both have been the subject of lawsuits nine times. This includes an $11,000 judgement that originated in Pennsylvania.
Jill Kelley, who worked as unpaid social liaison at the Air Force base in South Tampa, quickly established herself as an extravagant hostess. Almost all of her parties included members of the military coalition, and civilian guests have included the president of the University of Tampa, the state attorney general, and a former Tampa mayor.
