TotalTravel acquired by Yahoo7 for AU$20 million

Yahoo7, the Australian JV between Yahoo and Australian television network Channel Seven, has acquired travel site TotalTravel for AU$20 million ($17 million.

According to SmartCompany.com.au, the bastard local child of Yahoo will merge the site into Yahoo7 travel and and use Totaltravel.com’s audience to promote Channel Seven shows including The Great Outdoors.

“We’ll run the site as it is today for another six months at least and then we’ll migrate it to a revamped site with all our content,” Yahoo7 CEO Rohan Lund told SmartCompany. “Total travel has done a great job of collecting the audience and the data… we have the programs and the technology to take it to the next level.”

TotalTravel, a relatively little known site in Australia, is claimed to have a AU$10 million turnover on a AU$3 million annual profit. The acquisition is one of the few tech acquisition made in Australia in the last 12 months.
