Mantyhose – no I’m not joking

They might have been the cool thing in Shakespeare’s but come on people – pantyhose for men?

At £70 a pair they might be flying off the shelves for English lingerie brand Unconditional but that doesn’t mean that this is even close to being something that makes me want to cringe. Granted by all accounts they are being used as underwear rather than being shown off by those wearing them. According to the PR they are being worn to provide that little extra bit of warmth we all seem to be needing as well as giving a man’s hips and legs a smoother line.

David Walker-Smith, Selfridges’ director of menswear and beauty, said: “This winter the city’s most stylish men will have a secret weapon hidden in their trousers.

“The ‘mantyhose’ are extremely versatile and we expect men to be wearing them not only as a way to as a way to give legs an extra boost of warmth on the chilliest nights, but as a true style statement.”
