WWE News: Kurt Angle Reveals The Problem With Roman Reigns And If He Will Work

The recent announcement that Kurt Angle was back with WWE to be inducted into the 2017 Hall of Fame brought about a lot of excitement. While fans are still waiting to see if he will ever step back in the ring for the promotion, he’s at least letting more of his thoughts known now. Angle recently spoke on one of the biggest mysteries in all of wrestling — Roman Reigns and his reception from the fans — but the gold medalist seems to know the problem.

It really is no surprise that Roman Reigns hasn’t been met with the greatest reception from the majority of wrestling fans, but that hasn’t stopped WWE from pushing him. Ever since The Shield split up, Reigns has been pushed to the moon and back, even though he is booed out of every building he walks into.

At the Royal Rumble, WWE seemed to put a new plan in place for Roman Reigns, and it started with him entering at No. 30 and eliminating The Undertaker. Maybe they’re finally moving away from trying to make him the ultimate babyface, and Kurt Angle thinks that is a good idea.

Angle recently spoke with The Statement Show, by way of Wrestling Inc., and he says that the biggest problem was how fast Reigns was pushed. WWE simply moved him to the top far too fast and continued to do more with him, despite the rejection of the fans.

“Roman Reigns is talented. I don’t care what anyone says. You can’t deny that the kid knows how to work. I believe what happened to him was that they didn’t have him go through the wringer. They didn’t have him win the European title, or I should say, the Intercontinental title, U.S. title, King Of The Ring [tournament]. They just threw him up there right away and the fans don’t like that. They want you to earn your keep. If any wrestler has ever done that, I don’t know of one. It seemed like they were really trying to push Roman faster than he should have been pushed.”

Angle seems to be right on target as the main complaint from the fans is that Reigns kept getting pushed and given new title opportunities and more title wins. No matter what was going on or how impossible it seemed, Roman Reigns was always winning.

As recapped by the official website of the WWE, Reigns moved into a feud with Braun Strowman after what happened at the Royal Rumble and Monday Night Raw. While that feud isn’t for a title of any kind, many believe that it is only a matter of time until he is back in the spotlight.

Kurt Angle thinks that Reigns has a great career ahead of him and still has so much more to do in the sport of professional wrestling. He said that Vince McMahon knows the acceptance of the fans will go up and continue doing so until he wins them over.

“I think he will earn the respect of fans, but it’s going to take a little bit more time.”

Looking at the past, if a heel as angry, mean, and bad as Kurt Angle can get back in the good graces of the fans, Roman Reigns can do it too.

If there is anyone who can speak on being hated and being successful in the world of professional wrestling, it is Kurt Angle. Not only has he been both a major heel and a babyface in storylines, but it has also moved over into his personal life. All of his points on Roman Reigns and how the fans have taken to him are extremely valid and make a lot of sense, but if things go the way they appear to be, the WWE finally has a true plan in place.
