Usher Angers Georgia Voters By Cutting Long Line At Polls

Most people voting at the Bill Johnson Community Center in Georgia had to wait in line to fill out their ballot. But not Usher. The R&B superstar was allowed to bypass the long line on election day.

According to WSBTV, poll workers ushered Usher in through the back door of the community center so that he wouldn’t have to wait in line.

Voter Alan Christian said:

“I take the voting process very seriously, and I was just taken aback that this was allowed to happen.”

County election officials said that they gave Usher special treatment because they did not want to cause a distraction. The officials said that Usher alerted them before his arrival and they decided that the best option was to bring Usher to the front of the line so that voters would not be distracted by his presence.

The election officials said in a statement:

“As a result, Poll Manager Frank Padula was directed to ensure that Mr. Raymond’s presence would not become a distraction by taking necessary measures to move Mr. Raymond through the process as expeditiously as possible … At no point was this decision made for preferential treatment, but to minimize and avoid a distraction at the poll.”

Do you think Usher was right to skip ahead in line?

Several of celebrities voted on election day and not all of them got special treatment. Joan Rivers, for instance, stood in line with everyone else in order to cast her vote.
