O’Hair Tops Tour Championship Opener; Tiger One-Shot Behind

Atlanta, GA (AHN) – Sean O’Hair finished the opening round of the Tour Championship with a 4-under 66 to take a one-shot lead Thursday in the final FedEx Cup playoff event.
O’Hair, No. 7 in the FedEx standings, credited his first round lead to a putting tip from fellow American Tiger Woods, among the stars tied for second at three-under 67.
O’Hair registered his fifth birdie of the round with a two-foot birdie at the 12th hole that pushed him in front.
O’Hair gave that shot back, however, following a bogey at the 13th.
Woods, among the top five players contending for the FedEx Cup top prize of $10 million, bounced back from a tentative start by rattling four birdies in his last 10 holes.
Reigning British Open champ Stewart Cink and three-time major winner Padraig Harrington share second place with Woods.
Tied at 69 are Retief Goosen, Dustin Johnson and Steve Marino.
Steve Stricker, the No. 2 seed, is among those tied at 70.
