Filmmaker Joss Whedon Calls Ivanka Trump A Pekingese On Twitter, Faces Backlash
Avengers filmmaker Joss Whedon has once again come under fire for his use of Twitter. Recently, Whedon raised eyebrows (and ire) when he wished for Paul Ryan’s death on the social media platform, unapologetically calling for the Speaker of the House to be violated by a rhino horn. While Joss Whedon has long been an outspoken liberal, as well as a supporter of Hillary Clinton’s recent presidential campaign, many thought that the filmmaker crossed the line when he wished Paul Ryan dead.

Whedon isn’t just anti-Republican, he’s blatantly anti-Trump. During the election cycle, the filmmaker took some time off from his career to create the pro-Hillary Super PAC, Save the Day. Further, Joss Whedon donated $1 million of his own cash to help Hillary Clinton keep Trump out of the White House.
“It’s not about attacking because Donny’s real good at attacking himself. It’s about getting people to vote, because it’s frightening the apathy that people are treating the most crucial election of their lifetimes with.”

Since filmmaker Joss Whedon failed at his attempt to secure a Hillary Clinton presidential victory in November, he has continued to use his social media influence to bash on Donald Trump, conservatives, and even other celebrities who dare speak out in support of the new POTUS.

As The Hollywood Reporter reported, Joss Whedon once again stood on his social media soapbox to do some Trump bashing on Twitter. This time around, however, the filmmaker had Trump’s daughter Ivanka and her husband Jacob Kushner in his cross-hairs. In a tweet that featured Kushner looking over the shoulder of the POTUS, Joss Whedon likened Ivanka to a dog. Specifically, a Pekingese. He also called Kushner a “Voldemort in training.”
“Hey, keep your eyes on this f—ing prize too. He’s a Voldemort in training, & unlike the Pekingese he married under, can play the long game.”
In the aftermath of filmmaker Joss Whedon’s latest anti-Trump tweet, many are saying he’s really gone too far by attacking Donald Trump’s daughter on social media. Some have been highly critical of the openly feminist filmmaker and writer’s disparagement of a female who doesn’t share his political views, according to the New York Daily News. Others attacked Whedon for his criticism of the Trump kids, saying children of presidents are “off limits.” Still, other social media users questioned the integrity of filmmaker Joss Whedon’s roundabout name calling.

Quite a few critics of Joss Whedon’s latest anti-Trump tweet took to social media themselves to share their thoughts and outrage at the filmmaker, with a few even coming to his defense.

As Huffington Post, a notoriously liberal media outlet, reported, filmmaker Joss Whedon didn’t do much, if anything, to further his cause by engaging in Ivanka Trump name-calling. While lamenting, along with the rest of those saddened and dismayed by the current Trump presidency, that Joss is living in the “increasingly dystopian reality” that is “Trump’s America,” and calling his anger “understandable,” the publication recognized that Whedon wasn’t directing his emotions properly.
As the HuffingtonPost indicates, Joss Whedon has plenty of legitimate options if he wants to call out Ivanka Trump. Name-calling is juvenile, but bringing up Ivanka’s support of her father’s anti-woman administration is on the table and also relevant.

Just days into the Trump presidency, many are calling it one of the most anti-women administrations in U.S. history, and the Women’s March in Washington (which reportedly out-performed the Trump inauguration) proved how serious Americans are about not tolerating misogyny.
But when you’re not about to tolerate misogyny, it’s hard to be cool with filmmaker Joss Whedon using underhanded wording to call a woman a dog.
