Coldplay’s Will Champion To Star In ‘Game Of Thrones’

Coldplay’s drummer Will Champion is set to make a cameo appearance in HBO’s acclaimed drama Game Of Thrones.

Art is set to imitate life as Champion will play a drummer in the series, but his role is believed to be pretty small and won’t test him too much. The percussionist’s appearance will come in the show’s third season which will premiere on March 31 2013.

This won’t be the first time that a rock star has appeared in Game Of Thrones. Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol revealed that he filmed a small segment for the show in July 2012, but it has yet to be revealed what character he’ll play.

Ed Skrein from Ill Manors, Misfits Iwan Rheon, Paul Kaye, Diana Rigg, and Mackenzie Crook from The Office are confirmed to have been added to the large ensemble cast for the third season when it returns next year.

Based on on George R. R. Martin’s series of books, Game Of Thrones has turned into one of HBO’s most prolific dramas. Alfie Allen who plays Theon Greyjoy in the show has revealed that the new series is “very dark” and features a copious amount of blood and gore, which in the past it has been criticised for.

“It could have a lot of laughs, it could have a lot of tears. It depends on which way you look at it and how you see my character,” he added.

The series has been nominated for numerous Golden Globes and Emmys in it’s time, with Peter Dinklage awarded the latter for his performance as Tyrion Lannister.
