Mackenzie Phillips’ Shocking Revelation: She Had Sex With Her Father
Mackenzie Phillips has some disturbing revelations. The “One Day at a Time” actress has admitted to having sex with her own father, The Mamas & The Papas lead singer John Phillips, during her drug-fueled days.
According to People magazine, which obtained an advance copy of her tell-all memoir “High on Arrival,” the 49-year-old former child star woke up on the eve of her marriage to Jeff Sessler, a member of the Rolling Stones entourage, to find John raping her.
Mackenzie, who was 19 at that time, wrote: “On the eve of my wedding, my father showed up, determined to stop it. I had tons of pills, and Dad had tons of everything too. Eventually I passed out on Dad’s bed.”
“My father was not a man with boundaries. He was full of love, and he was sick with drugs. I woke up that night from a blackout to find myself having sex with my own father.”
The actress battled drug addiction during her time on the CBS sitcom. She was fired on the show in 1980 after missing out shooting days on time. Eventually, she went to rehab together with her father.
Mackenzie also revealed in her book that when she toured with her father’s band, her sexual relationship with him became consensual.
The actress, who is also known for her role in the cult classic “American Graffiti,” is also expected to reveal the details to Oprah Winfrey, as shown in the teaser for the talk show’s Wednesday episode.
John Phillips died in March 2001 of heart failure.
