Measure B: Voters Will Determine If Porn Actors Should Wear Condoms

Voters in Los Angeles, California will determine if porn actors should wear condoms during production, according to The Associated Press.

If the measure is passed, then performers in pornographic movies will be forced to where condoms during shoots. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health will conduct investigations to see whether or not the measure is being properly followed.

Anyone who wishes to shoot a legitimate porn film in Los Angeles will have to pay to obtain the required permits. Wearing condoms will be a requirement to film inside the county limits. The fees received from these permits would be used to fund health inspections.

Some people feel that forcing actors to wear condoms is a bad idea. In order to spread the word, porn stars have rallied against the proposed measure.

“The idea of allowing a government employee to come and examine our genitalia while we’re on set is atrocious,” porn star Amber Lynn explained to the Los Angeles Daily News.

Lynn, who has worked in the porn industry since 1984, explained that the cost of enforcing these new rules and regulations would be extremely high.

“As a taxpayer, if I wasn’t in the porn industry, I would be aghast at how much was being spent on supporting Measure B,” Amber Lynn said. “That’s money that could have gone to supporting sex education, or help those suffering with HIV.”

Rumors have suggested that Michael Weinstein, executive director of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation and Measure B proponent, has spread lies about the industry in order to get support. Weinstein claims this simply is not true.

“Our goal is to protect performers, and I understand if they disagree with us,” he explained. “But I’ve said all along that people have their own opinions, but not their own facts.”
