Tyson Gay Wins In Shanghai, Matches Bolt’s Beijing Mark

Shanghai, China (AHN) – American sprinter Tyson Gay beat Asafa Powell in the 100 meters in Shanghai.
Gay equaled the mark set by Usain Bolt during the Beijing Olympics.
Gay sprinted to a 9.69 finish, the second fastest time ever and a new American record.
“I feel pretty good, well actually I feel very tired today. Sometimes that happens, but you still feel good.” said Gay.
Jamaica’s Powell finished in 9.85.
“Not a good season. You know, I can’t say that I am happy about this season, but you know, just all for the best next year,” the runner-up said afterwards.
Carmelita Jeter shined bright in the women’s 100m.
She posted a 10.64, the second fastest time on the women’s side.
The late, great Florence Griffith Joyner holds the world record 10.49, set in 1988.
