WWE Rumors: Will Baron Corbin Face Off Against The Winner Of AJ Styles Vs. John Cena?

With the Royal Rumble just around the corner, the latest WWE rumors surround the main event of AJ Styles vs. John Cena, with the winner of that match taking home the WWE World Championship. But there are some suggestions that the winner of that match will face off against — of all people — Baron Corbin!

According to Forbes Magazine’s latest round of WWE rumors, the “most metal” wrestler in the entire WWE will face off against the winner of the match between AJ Styles and John Cena. It all started with last night’s SmackDown, when Corbin interrupted the contract signing between Cena and Styles. This interruption led to Corbin facing off against Cena during next week’s show, which, according to Forbes, is a set-up for an upcoming WrestleMania rivalry.

Forbes believes that Corbin has now, intentionally or not, become the biggest heel of the blue brand.

“Just a few short months ago, hardly anyone could have imagined Corbin getting a high-profile match at WrestleMania, but seemingly overnight, “The Lone Wolf” has improved leaps and bounds to the point where WWE has positioned him against “The Champ.” Translation: WWE has strapped the proverbial rocket to Corbin, and it couldn’t have happened at a better time for him.”

But according to the latest WWE rumors from SkySports, Corbin has a long way to go before he can even think of getting to the point of competing against Styles and Cena. Fans will recall that the wrestlers didn’t even get physical with each other until Corbin entered the ring. As Cena and Corbin were exchanging words — again, lending credence to the fact that Corbin is trying to become a prime heel — Styles had the opportunity to get an attack in on Cena.

There’s some suggestion that Cena will earn the World Championship as a result of these fights as part of the company’s contract with the wrestler — if nothing else, Cena will have the distinction of tying with Ric Flair for the number of titles earned in a career. If that’s Cena’s legacy, so be it.

But don’t count AJ Styles out quite yet, because according to Cageside Seats’ latest round of WWE rumors, he’s still holding strong as one of the most popular World Champions in history. Although he’s held the title since February, when he snatched it from Dean Ambrose (who, incidentally, took home the Intercontinental Title from longtime title holder The Miz, which is some small consolation), he’s taken more of a face turn than a suspected heel turn, and it’s worked out well for him.

“They gotta do what’s best for SmackDown, and last year Cena told AJ, with this title on his shoulder, he had to win to prove he’s not just an overrated indie guy, but now, if Cena doesn’t win, he doesn’t belong in the WWE. He beat Cena three times, and he wants to do his taunt? Nobody can see him, because he’s a ghost lately, and he takes credit for SmackDown’s ratings success.”
