Dell To Acquire Perot Systems For $3.9 Billion
Computer maker Dell has signed a $3.9 billion deal to buy Perot Systems, the Texas-based information technology services provider founded by H. Ross Perot Sr.
Dell will benefit by offering a broader range of IT services and will get a chance to sell more computers to companies that are currently using Perot Systems’ solutions.
Dell will make a cash play to acquire all outstanding shares of Perot Systems for $30 each, with the deal expected to close in Dell’s November-January fiscal quarter. Dell has announced it will keep current Perot Systems CEO Peter Altabef.
“We consider Perot Systems to be a premium asset with great people that enhances our opportunities for immediate and long-term growth,” Dell CEO, Chairman and founder Michael Dell explained. “This significantly expands Dell’s enterprise-solutions capabilities and makes Perot Systems’ strengths available to even more customers around the world.”
“There will be efficiencies from combining the companies, but the acquisition makes such great sense because of the obvious ways our businesses complement each other,” Michael Dell added.
