2009-10 NBA preview: Orlando Magic

While there are no moral victories in the NBA, there are thing on which greater things can be built. This seems to be the case for the Orlando Magic. Last season this team went five games deep into the NBA finals, while they eventually lost to the Lakers, which was a loss on top of which the Magic can build future success. While they were good enough to make the finals a year ago, a strong argument can be made that they are a far better team heading into the new NBA season.

They replaced an almost all star in Hedo Trukoglu with eight time all star Vince Carter. They added a starter quality power forward in Brandon Bass, and they upgraded their bench. All that and they still have the best center, Dwight Howard, to enter this league since one Shaquille O’Neil. All that and they have motivated Coach Stan Van Gundy who seems to be very clever indeed.

Better than all that this is roster devoid of knuckleheads and troublemakers. Instead of wasting time and effort keeping the locker room in order the Magic can focus on dominating the Eastern Conference. Their GM Otis Smith believes that the time is now for this Magic team and he just might be right.
