One Dead, 12 Wounded In Iraq Blackhawk Helicopter Crash

Washington, DC (AHN) – A U.S. armed service member was killed and 12 others wounded when a Blackhawk helicopter crashed at a U.S. airbase north of Baghdad Saturday night.
The cause of the crash at the Balad airbase is under investigation. The military is withholding the name of the service member pending notification of family members.
The severity of the injuries among the wounded is not clear.
The Balad airbase is known as Camp Anaconda, a counterterrorism and logistical support center. Since the invasion of Iraq in March 2003, 4,344 U.S. military personnel have died there.
