Infinity Ward Denies ‘Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’ Rumors

Game developer Infinity Ward has denied rumors that it is working on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, according to the Examiner.

Word of the proposed video game began making the rounds after Bill Murray stated that he was on his way to do some voice work on the Modern Warfare 3 sequel. The actor, who portrayed Captain Price in the previous installment, revealed the gig during a recent interview, sending fans of the series into fits of unadulterated excitement.

“Yeah, on Monday I am off to meet Infinity Ward about the next game, ‘Modern Warfare 4,’ I’m doing work on the sequel to ‘Modern Warfare 3,’ it carries straight on and I only ever appear in the Modern Warfare games,” Murray said in a chat with This Is Xbox. The Moonrise Kingdom actor also explained that the next installment would be a continuation of the previous storyline.

Although people were quick to rejoice at the news that Infinity Ward was working on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, the company was decided to shut down such rumors. Although Bill Murray may have been on his way to job, a spokesperson explained that it wasn’t for the next installment of the series.

“Interesting news today, but it’s not true,” Infinity Ward wrote on Twitter. “We’ve not talked with any voice actors, so all news is speculation.”

However, as Cinema Blend points out, the company isn’t saying that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 isn’t going to happen. All Infinity Ward is stating at this point is that they are not currently working on the title in question. Of course, those who are hoping for the game to find its way onto this generation’s consoles may be in for a bit of a disappointment.
