Pennsylvania Man Shot Baby In Head With BB Gun: Claimed It Was An Accident

A Pennsylvania man is in jail after he shot a baby in the head with a BB gun. He claimed that it was an accident, WJACTV reports.

The 20-year-old Johnstown man is facing charges and is currently jailed in Cambria County Prison on charges of endangering the welfare of a child, aggravated assault, and recklessly endangering another person.

Zachary Black told police that he was just “twirling (the gun) around … and it went off.” Zachary was unable to post the $75,000 bail.

According to ABC News, the police stated that the gun may have originally hit a wall, which then bounced and hit the baby in the head.

The infant’s condition has not been released, but it has been revealed that a BB is lodged in the baby’s brain. The baby boy is being treated at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.

An update, as of Friday, revealed that the baby’s condition is improving, WJACTV reports. Jennifer Lee, the grandmother of little Noah Black, told reporters that the baby is no longer “having seizures and the swelling in his brain is going down.”

Further, Lee revealed that the doctors do not want to remove the pellet at this point, in fear that they could make things worse for Noah. The baby boy is receiving food by a feeding tube.

Online court records do not currently show that Zachary has an attorney. No further information has been reported, but the Inquisitr will update this story as more information becomes available.

A couple of months ago in New Orleans, a 16-month-old baby was injured during a triple shooting, resulting in one fatality involving a 26-year-old man. A second 26-year-old man was in serious condition, but following surgery was in stable condition, last reported by WGNO.

The police were called to the Cypress Run Apartments near Woodland Highway, where they found a car wrecked into the entrance gate, with three victims inside.

Superintendent Michael Harrison believe that the victims were sitting inside the vehicle when they were approached by at least one person and shot multiple times.

Leonard was the victim that died, and his son was also shot. It was believed that Leonard was taking his friend, Jerome, back to his apartment, when they were suddenly ambushed.

Jerome was shot in the back and leg three times, and Leonard was fatally shot in the head. The baby was shot in the rear-end. Neighbors confirmed they heard several shots.

Jerome and Leonard have been friends for several years, and Leonard used to live in the complex, as well. They both worked at local restaurants in the kitchen, and claimed no awareness of any enemies.

Just over a month ago in Louisiana, a 1-year-old child was shot in the face by a 2-year-old sibling while sitting in a vehicle parked in a strip mall parking lot, Daily Mail reports.

The parents were present during the shooting, and they called emergency services. However, the parents decided that they didn’t want to wait for paramedics and rushed the injured baby to the hospital. Upon arrival, the baby was in critical condition.

According to WWLTV, the mother of the children, Crystal Kinchen, 23, was arrested and is facing a charge of cruelty to juveniles. It was not known how the child ended up with the gun, but Kinchen claimed to be distracted with her phone during the incident. Further, it was alleged that she was sitting inside a friend’s car, when the child must have found a loaded gun wedged between the middle console and driver’s seat.

Kinchen’s friend said that she heard a loud fire cracker sound, when she suddenly turned around and realized that her daughter was laying on the floor of the car with a gunshot wound.

Police revealed that the children were not strapped into car seats, and the only way the child could have gotten a hold of a gun in between the middle console and the driver seat is if Kinchen was left alone in the car with the children.
