Katy Perry Teases New Music on Her Instagram; Could A Return Be Imminent?

Katy Perry has finally teased a new round of music on her Instagram account.

The popular “Roar” singer has been quite prolific during her eight-year career since the release of cult hit song “I Kissed a Girl” in 2008. Dozens of hit singles and an appearance in the SuperBowl XLIX halftime show later, and Katy has become entrenched as an immovable part of pop culture with nearly 95 million Twitter, 71 million Facebook, and 60 million Instagram followers tracking her every movement.

Katy Perry seemed to be on top of the world when she performed at SuperBowl XLIX in Glendale, Arizona last year. Her fans, however, continue to clamor for new music for the first time since 2013. Katy Perry has also been included in Forbes’ annual ranking of the “Top-Earning Women In Music” for six straight years running; her current estimated net worth is $125 billion (2016).

Then, seemingly out of nowhere, Katy Perry went about as silent as her political idol Hillary Clinton.

Perry’s last album was Prism in 2013, a collection that gave her fans such memorable songs as the aforementioned “Roar,” as well as “Unconditionally” and “Dark Horse.”

Sure, in the past three years, Katy has concentrated on other ventures. Perry, for example, established her own record label, Metamorphosis Music, under Capital Records in 2014 and starred in the Hollywood movie sequel The Smurfs 2.

Perry has also, as has been documented by FGTNEWS, helped write hits for fellow female performers such as Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, and Iggy Azalea, apparently content to remain in the background and help contribute to the success of other popular singers.

In addition to those accomplishments, Katy Perry took on a number of speaking engagements in 2016, showing off her passion for a number of causes, including her most recent stint as part of a massive parade of (likely-paid) celebrities campaigning to try to get Hillary Clinton elected as U.S. President, a bid that was obviously unsuccessful.

“I think we got the vote,” Katy Perry recently famously quipped during a performance/Clinton rally in Philadelphia, per the Huffington Post.

“Join me in lifting [Hillary Clinton] up now, and into her Presidency.”

It would appear, however, as if Katy Perry overestimated Clinton’s level of support.

In general, unless one were following Katy Perry on Instagram or one of her other social media accounts – or enjoyed watching celebrities drool over Democratic candidate Clinton – it is very likely that the person would have missed Katy altogether.

2017, however, seems like it could be a year of change for Katy Perry.

According to her Instagram account, Katy may soon be headed back out for a round of concerts with a fresh medley of songs.

In particular, Perry posted a humorous clip of herself with one of her teeth blacked out by sharpie and making a joke about not being able to remove the smudge. Far more interesting, however, is the new Katy Perry tune that seems to be playing in the background.

“For a few short seconds, you can hear the fun, upbeat track,” said FGTNEWS’ Varun Kumar. “and it’s obvious that it’s [Katy] Perry’s voice singing the vocals.”

And that old familiar Katy Perry voice, albeit in just a short video clip, seemed to be exactly what Katy’s fans were craving.

Then came the second brief Instagram clip from Perry.

In this one, a different, more slow song plays in the background, and is accompanied by the caption from Katy Perry that “We’ve got another one! INSTRUMENTS! VOCALS!!”

While the snippet is certainly all too short and far from a fully assembled tune, it is, however, more than enough to get some people excited about the possible return of Katy Perry to the music world.

After all, one should always stick with that which they actually know.
